During the academic year 2024–2025, I had the opportunity to teach 3 courses to Graphic Design students and a course to non-Graphic Design students. Below are details of two of the courses I taught, and the highlighted projects for those courses.
Course: GRDE307- Design Systems I
Year Level: Graphic Design Juniors
Conceptual campaign with Accessibility-Oriented Organization—Project Details:
Each team of students collaborated and designed a conceptual campaign for their selected accessibility-oriented organization, along with three promotional campaign deliverables to spread the word about their campaign. Their goal was to raise awareness on one of the four provided categories of accessibility: hearing, visual, mobility, and cognitive.
Some of the selected accessibility-oriented organizations include the National Federation of the Blind and the Alzheimer's Association.
Design History with Experiential Design—Project Details:
Each team had to research a selected design period and choose key artists and designers from that design period to be featured in a proposed 10ft x 10ft by 8ft high conceptual booth space. Also, they designed additional deliverables to convey the story of their selected design period and to promote their booth exhibition.
Some design periods include Art Nouveau and New Typography.
Course: GRDE307- Experiential Graphic Design
Year Level: Graphic Design Juniors
Educational Pop-up—Project Details:
Students created and designed a meaningful, compelling, and educational small-scale pop-up event for a student club at a specific location on the RIT campus. Also, they designed promotional materials to promote their event for their selected student club.
Retail Marketing Displays—Project Details:
Students explored how to create visually appealing displays to showcase a company’s products. They chose a company and decided on at least three products to promote when designing an end cap display and an interactive shop experience.
